Introducing my baby girl Kai. She is about 2 weeks old in this pic my wife took. So CUTE!
Baby has arrived and things are going beautifully. Both mommy and baby are doing great and we couldn’t be happier with our little girl.
With the arrival of baby, now is a good a time as any to start (again) eating well and exercising. Eating well for me means eating an ancestral diet (primal, paleo, whatever you want to call it). As for exercising, I’m following a strength program with some heavy, short duration (10min) high intensity interval training (HIIT) thrown in a few days a week. I have been following my exercise program for a while now and I can say I’m as strong now as I have ever been. I’ve only recently added the HIIT as I felt I just wasn’t getting enough “cardio” work.
Getting back into the groove is always hard but feels great. Just got to figure out ways to manage the impending road blocks ahead!

Tomorrow is the official due date! My wife is a labor and deliver nurse and we’ve been trying all the tricks to get the baby out early. From pumping the tata’s to hiking stairs to, well, you know ;) It appears that baby just doesn’t want to come out in this -30 degree Celsius weather. And who can blame baby for that!
I’m hopeful that the warmer weekend will entice baby to enter our world!

Perfect! Someone who understands that just because you have a kid you don’t need to lose who you are! Although I’m sure baby is going to become a huge part of my life!
Our first baby is due in 3 days and I’m stoked. I’ve been hoping she’d be arriving sooner than later but alas, baby is set on waiting till the full 40 weeks, if not more. In the mean time, I’m still set on maintaining some part of my former self when baby arrives. Everyone with kids keep telling my wife and I that we won’t be able to downhill bike anymore or basically do anything for that matter. And to those people I say F that! Sure, there are going to be compromises but I still intend to do the things I love! I’ll follow up on this post in a few weeks.
Have any others with kids been able to make the compromise?
It’s hard to decide what one wants to blog about. I have another blog bikelife365.blogspot.com dedicated to my love of bikes. It’s great and I like writing about biking related things when I have the chance but every now and again there are other things I’d like to write about that just don’t fit the biking genre. This blog will have all the random things that run through my head. My weekly obsession (photography), my soon to be arriving baby, anything.
